I have been reading some self help books lately, trying to get my self confidence up, in order to give me the motivation to do all the things I want to do. But the problem that I have, and I think everybody else has, is realistic goal setting to get there. I picked this
book up, to help me out with that.

This book is very informative and educational, in regard to setting life goals for yourself. It explains that most people set the how they want to end up as their goal, and get discouraged when it doesn’t seem to get any closer. What you have to do is break those goals down into much smaller tasks, so you are actually making progress towards your goal. This book explains how to do this simply, and effectively After reading this, i started writing some of my goals down. I then tried to break down my goals into much smaller goals, that are much more easily attainable, instead of the big picture right away. I could feel a difference right away. After I broke down those goals, I finished one of the goals fairly quickly, and already feel like I’m getting a lot closer to my end goal! I highly recommend this book, to help you on your way to accomplish what you want in your life.

It is amazing to me how something so simple is often the largest barrier in a person’s success.I’ve been self -employed for over twenty years and I am always, always seeking to sharpen the sword more.
Reading this book jump started my brain and also made me realize how close people can be to success yet they don’t get there and often spend years (or their lifetime) wondering why.
The list of questions in Chapter 11 are excellent and I think if one reads this book and spends the time to really take a good look at their answers to the questions that a light bulb will turn on in your mind and you’ll see something you may have totally missed before.
The Goal Setting Personality Types section is also an excellent way to zone in regarding how to set goals based on your personality. I liked this addition to the book as the author recognizes that different types need different approaches to goal setting. The goal setting advice is excellent in this book. I also really enjoyed seeing the info on Mind Mapping as I’ve used Mind Mapping since the 90s. It is a very powerful tool.

(I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review!)That is where I loved this book. It is so simple and uniquely written. Usually what follows are a host of suggestions and mostly a lot of horn tooting about the writer’s own achievements. But this book just broke down goals into 4 types depending upon the bigger picture. While it is difficult to think about goals for your entire life sitting in the comfort of your home/ office, it is a task which has to be done sometime or the other. It is best to make a plan or at least have a vision of where you expect to see yourself in say 10 years. Slowly narrowing it down and making those goals achievable.

A lot of the books I have read simply focus on the vision and leave it at that. I believe that every goal I envision comprises of smaller goals which I need to successfully complete before I can comfortably achieve my larger life goal. This book compartmentalizes those goals and the smaller stepping stones to your goals. This book will take your time. You can’t just read it and come out enriched. It is a process where you think about the questions the author has put in a section and also map it to your present life.

I found this book a really simple and useful book. I tried thinking of the goals I had in terms of the views of the author. While I don’t claim instant success, I am at least a tad bit better off than just sitting and wondering about the direction my life will take. Be it my goal relating to work, reading, traveling, writing or finding a partner and settling down, I do know the small steps I need to plan to achieve those and I hope that the book helps me more as I plan my goals more fruitfully now.

Mark has written a simple and clear guide to goal setting. He has brought together some ideas from other disciplines without trying to teach them in their fullest and kept the focus on what is needed. A quick read that does not get muddled.Mark Milotay makes goal setting fun and interesting. – Denise T
